Child Sexual Predator Convicted

Lawrence Walker was convicted of First Degree Sex Offense with a Child, Statutory Sex Offense with a person 13, 14, or 15 years old, and two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child and sentenced to 25 to 27 ½ years in prison.

We would like to especially thank Lisa Morgan, who as a detective with Marion Police Department was the investigating officer on the case. She has since left Marion PD for a position with the Department of Insurance, but came back for the week to testify and provided significant assistance in prosecuting this case. We would also like to thank Beth Browning, Family Nurse Practitioner and SANE Nurse (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), and Danica Ciaramita, LPC, both of whom were involved in the diagnosis and treatment of the victim and whose testimony was vital in convicting the defendant. Both are with SouthMountain Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides the full spectrum of diagnosis and treatment for victims of child sexual abuse, such as forensic medical examination, forensic interviewing, mental health counseling, and multi-disciplinary team case review. The entire SouthMountain Team (and its Rutherford County counterpart, the Clara Allen Family Center) are invaluable in ensuring justice for the victims of child sexual assault and we could not effectively prosecute these type of cases without their assistance.
